Guided by esteemed English-speaking scholars who teach from the orthodox tradition of Islam, this Halaqa aims to foster a deep love for Allah, His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, and the Religion. Can I attend for a few days only?
Unfortunately, due to high demand and limited space at the venue, we are unable to offer a daily rate option. Applicants may register by paying the full fee and attend the sessions at their convenience. Your registration is non-transferable on to another applicant.
Food Allergies
Due to the nature of catering provided we can’t guarantee any of our food is suitable for those with serious allergies due to a high risk of cross contamination. Those with serious allergies, it is very important to recognise that our food will not be suitable to eat. The menu for the week can be provided upon request, you should make alternative arrangements if this does not fit your dietary requirements.
Children Under 15
Children under 15 will be allowed to attend the Halaqa ONLY if they are accompanied by an adult and registered onto the relevant programme. It is the adult’s responsibility to drop and pick them up from their sessions. Outside of their sessions, they must be accompanied at all times.
Children Under 5
Parents attending this course may bring their children under 5 to sessions, If they become noisy, we would request that the parents kindly take them outside the classroom, so as not to disturb other students. Their will also be a room with a video link on site.

Due to the current situation in the Middle East, Shaykh Samir Al Nass and Shaykha Hanada Sukkar may not be able to attend the Halaqa. As an organisation, we are committed to bringing them InshaAllah, however circumstances beyond our control may prevent their attendance. We will not be able to confirm their attendance until possibly a week before the Halaqa, so we cannot set a specific timeline on this. Please be assured that the Halaqa will proceed as scheduled. Shaykh Samir Al Nass was born in Damascus, Syria. He studied in the College of Medicine of the University of Damascus. He studied in the United States and became qualified in Medicine. He studied under some of the great ‘ulama of Sham and Saudi ‘Arabia. He has ijazah in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of Shatibiyyah and Durra from Sheikh Muhammad Sukr. He has ijazah in the ten styles of recitation of the narration of Tayyibah from Sheikh Ahmad Mustafa, who is a student of Sheikh Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat of Egypt. He has ijazah in fiqh and ‘aqida from Sheikh Abu Yusr ibn ‘Abidin, Sheikh Lufti Fayumi, and Sheikh Adeeb al-kallas.
He has ijazah in hadith from Sheikh Yasin Fadani al-Makki, and Sheikh Dr. Nur ud-din Itar. He also has ijazah in hadith from al-Hafidh Sheikh Abd Allah Siraj ud-din. He has taught at various din-intensive courses in England and North America.
Sheikh Samir is presently a teacher in the the M’ahad al-Fath in Damascus, teaching Hanafi Fiqh in the Takhassus Shariah department and lecturing in
the Masters department.
Sheikh Samir teaches Tajwid on a daily basis in the blessed masjid of Sheikh Ibn ‘Arabi, a post given to him by his sheikh and father-in-law, Sheikh Muhammad al-Sukr.
Shaykha Hanada was born in Damuscas in 1968 and grew up in a religious family who loved the Qur’an under the watchful eye of a loving mother and a father who were servants of the Qur’an and acted upon it. Also, in the presence of two paternal aunts who had a huge influence on her growing up and forming the religious environment she was surrounded in.
She wed at a young age to Shaykh Samir Al Nass whom is a student of the Qur’an and a student of Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar, (her father). She travelled with Shaykh to America where she had her first son Ibrahim and then her second son Abdul Raheem, whereafter she moved to live in Saudia Arabia where her a third son Moaz (Rahima Ullah) was born and her daughter Laila.
She completed her hifdh of her Qur’an there and read the khatam to her husband, Shaykh Samir. They returned to live in Damascus in 1997.
She attained degrees in knowledge and gnosis. She completed the khatam of the Qur’an with ijaza from her father Shaykh Muhammad Sukkar and after his demise she completed her third khatam with ijaza with Dr Hannah Abideen (Allah preserve her) with a chain through Shaykh Abul Hassan Al Kurdi and she studied islamic sciences, fiqh and seerah and many others during her travels with the shaykh and during this time she achieved ijazaat in hadith books like Nisai and Tirmidhi and the like.
Shaykh Tanveer Hussain studied the Islamic Sciences in Syria for 8 years with notable teachers such as:
Shaykh Dr. Samir al-Nass, Shaykh Abdul-Razzaq al-Halabi, Shaykh Adeeb Kallas, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, and Shaykh Anas al-Hibri. Shaykh Tanweer is a graduate of M’ahad al-Fath al-Islami. He has previously been working in Oxfordshire, where he taught at Shifa School, Shifa Evening School, and at the Sacred Study Programme. Shaykh Tanveer is an Executive Director of the Shifa Trust.
Shaykh Tanveer now resides in High Wycombe, teaching the Certificate in Islamic Learning (CIL) course amongst many other classes as part of Wycombe Mosque.
Shaykh Thaqib Mahmood’s educational journey in the Islamic disciplines comprises a rich tapestry of experiences from the late 90s to 2007. He sought knowledge in many locations, benefiting from and receiving licenses in general and specific areas from scholars in Yemen, Syria, Morocco, Turkey, Mauritania, Makkah and Madinah.
The central place of studying abroad unfolded in Damascus, where Shaykh Thaqib Mahmood immersed himself in a traditional curriculum. He received one-on-one tutoring for particular subjects or was part of a small group of students. Over time, he studied various subjects to their advanced levels with various scholars. This led to a comprehensive study of the well-known and established scholarly works, showcasing the depth of arguments and positions representing the mainstream understandings of this Ummah.
Since his return to the UK in the last 17 years, Shaykh Thaqib Mahmood has been actively involved in teaching a broad spectrum of Islamic disciplines, from Sirah to Tafsir. In addition developing educational programmes at the various institutions he’s been serving. His significant contributions include a 9-year tenure as a Quranic Arabic tutor at the University of Oxford, where he designed and developed the Quranic Arabic programme, which was previously neglected, bringing it up to par with the other languages taught at the Faculty of Theology and Religion. He also played a crucial role in creating the first approved BSL (British Sign Language) Adhan, providing essential knowledge of the Arabic phrases that BSL can best capture. His academic achievements include a PGDip in teaching communicative Arabic and an MA in linguistics; he completed both postgraduate programmes at SOAS, which have further enriched his understanding and teaching of Islamic disciplines.

He continues his learning under both local and international scholars. Shaykh Thaqib has been part of the Fountain for over 25 years.
Ustadh Shehzad Hussain embarked on his path of Islamic scholarship at the Sultan Bahu Trust in Birmingham, where he laid the foundation of his knowledge. Alongside his brother, Shaykh Tanvir Hussain, he then pursued intensive studies in Damascus, Syria, under the mentorship of Shaykh Samir Al Nass, one of the region’s esteemed scholars. There, he delved into traditional Islamic sciences, studying classical texts and refining his expertise in Islamic jurisprudence, spirituality, and the Arabic language.
Upon his return to the UK, Ustadh Shehzad settled in Milton Keynes, where he has become an influential figure in the local Muslim community. He currently holds a full-time position as an Imam in a prison, where he leads congregational prayers, provides spiritual counselling, and supports inmates with pastoral care.
Ustadh Shehzad has become a highly respected youth teacher at The Halaqa courses, recognised for his engaging, down-to-earth teaching style and his ability to connect with younger audiences.
With his deep-rooted commitment to traditional scholarship and his passion for community service, Ustadh Shehzad Hussain continues to inspire, uplift, and mentor the next generation of Muslims. His dedication to teaching, his impactful work as a prison Imam, and his role as a respected youth teacher position him as a pivotal figure in the Halaqa community.
